As someone who has broken wheel locks before (when asked by the customer who had lost their key while working at a tire shop), wheel locks are a deterrent. They can be broken, but it will take more time and effort than a regular lug nut. Only thieves that know how to break them will be successful.

The doors would lock at about 15 mph and unlock when the door handle was pulled.
